About Dr. vanVliet
Dr. vanVliet is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon with a profound love and respect for ‘all things skin’.
She has recently moved to Salt Spring Island in order to fulfill her life long dream to live on this lovely isle. Dr. vanVliet founded the “Spring Skin” clinic in order to fully embrace the surgical and non-surgical aspects of caring for skin. She provides a wide array of minor surgical services for the removal of skin lesions (both benign and malignant) as well as an extensive array of aesthetic skin rejuvenation procedures. She is delighted to be here and to be of service to her new community.
As a woman in her middle years, Dr. vanVliet is a strong advocate for her female patients and their health and wellness is paramount to her practice. She understands that the multi-billion dollar Beauty industry can manipulate and create confusion while leaving people out of pocket – with no real approach or results. As a Plastic surgeon Dr. vanVliet understands the science behind skin; what it takes to prevent and reverse skin damage and aging – she sees her role as one of demystifying skin care. She cuts through the ‘white noise’ and manipulation of the Beauty industry – and provides a sane and safe haven for her clients. She brings her expertise and clarity to the mix and places a premium on patient education and empowerment.
From a young age, Dr. vanVliet was fascinated by both the arts and anatomy. Dr. vanVliet was drawn to Plastic Surgery so she could integrate both of those loves in her reconstructive practice. Dr. vanVliet received her Bachelor of Science, followed by a Master of Science, at the University of Guelph. She completed her medical school training with Honours standing at the University of Toronto in 1994 and then went on to complete her specialty training in Plastic Surgery at McMaster University. She has been affiliated with Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario from 2000 until her recent retirement late in 2018 as she prepared for her BIG leap to BC. In addition to being a highly accomplished Plastic surgeon, Dr. vanVliet has also served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Southlake Regional Hospital as well as being a clinical lecturer and teacher for the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. She is an active member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgery (CSPS), the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CSAPS) and the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario and BC. Dr. vanVliet has recently received her privileges here at Lady Minto Hospital and she is delighted to join the excellent medical team there.

Dr vanVliet is wonderful. She’s very friendly. Even if Im in the clinic for my laser treatments she will make a point of coming by to say hi and check in on my progress. I also love her team. After having injectables done by Dr vanVliet I feel and look fabulous! She injected my jawline muscles with Botox to help shrink them down - my jaw shape is now thinner and my TMJ pain is gone! I had a PDT with levulinic acid done for my sun damaged skin. I love the results but prepare for about one week of down-time. I had lots of swelling and coffee ground staining but it was so worth it! My skin texture and fine wrinkles as well as pore size are all much better now.
All of the staff at the clinic are very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The clinic is extremely clean and beautiful. I highly recommend the PDT as well as the clinic. I will be back!
