What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a one of a kind, revolutionary ‘beneath the skin’ hyaluronic acid (HA) moisturizing treatment that has been all the rage in Europe for the past few years. As a pure HA injectable gel it has won many awards and proven safe and highly effective for super-hydrating and toning the skin. Having one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market, it not only boosts and hydrates the skin but it also has a bio-stimulatory effect on skin cells to ramp up collagen and elastin production for months post injection. This bio-remodelling effect on skin counteracts skin laxity and helps restore firmness to the skin.
How does Profhilo work?
- As we age, our HA levels drop as does our production of collagen and elastin. Our skin becomes thinner, crepey and less toned / elastic unless we intervene to boost the formation of these skin constituents. HA is one of the most hydrating molecules that draws water into the skin to super hydrate it form the inside out.
- Profhilo is an ultra-pure HA gel that is injected into targeted areas of the face, neck or décolletage to combat crepey, thinning and dry skin. It does this by delivering high concentrations of hydrating HA to the skin and by stimulating a new wave of collagen and elastin production. The results are long lasting hydration under the skin and well toned, smoother skin.
- Profhilo is not a filler – it has high concentrations of non-cross linked HA in its formulation but it will in no way volumize treatment areas. The HA gel is super thin and very spreadable throughout the dermis when injected. Profhilo is a skin booster.
How we do it
- The high concentration of HA in Profhilo necessitates that it be injected into precise, targeted spots. For example, a Facial or Neck treatment would each have 10 injection sites per treatment session. Dr vanVliet would map these out, apply numbing cream for comfort and then inject at each site.
- After your treatment a small bump or wheal will be present at each injection site and these will resolve within 24 hours.
- As with any injection there is a slight risk of bruising at an injection site and this may take longer to resolve.
- No intense exercise, no makeup, no massage of sites for 24 hours after your treatment session.
The Treatment protocol
Two treatment sessions spaced 1 month apart are recommended to achieve best results. The results of the first treatment series will last at least 6 months. After that one treatment every six months is all that is required to maintain your results
